Valentine’s Day may be only a few weeks behind us, but it’s reassuring for all the single ladies out there to know that there are still some available cuties on our campus. This week’s Campus Cutie is a funny, talented and dynamic junior: JP Perona!
We caught up with Perona to learn about his return to USD after going abroad, his academic ambitions as a double major and some other fun facts most people probably don’t know about him.
Her Campus (HC): What’s your relationship status? I’m sure everyone is dying to know if you’re available!
JP Perona (JP): I’m single.
HC: What is your major?
JP: “I’m a double major in business finance and real estate.”
HC: What’s your idea of a perfect date?
JP: “It would start with lunch at the Pennant rooftop for a cheeseburger, then we would rollerblade to the old wooden Belmont roller coaster and take a spin on that. I would attempt to win her a big stuffed animal bear at one of those cheesy carny games in the Belmont amusement park. After, we would continue on to the Mission Beach Wave House for a drink and some laughs while watching people wipe out on the surf simulator wave. Then we would bait a hook and go fishing off the Crystal Pier right before the sunset and catch dinner. We’d end the night stargazing or watching the movie Tommy Boy. It’d be topped off with some mint chip ice cream.”
HC: Who is your celebrity crush?
JP: “Jessica Alba or Blake Lively.”
HC: Tell me some things that most people don’t know about you!
JP: “I rode a bull at a rodeo this Fourth of July in Colorado. I threw one collegiate touchdown my freshman year in the spring blue and white football game but it was an interception, which was returned for a touchdown. I worked at a winery in high school, and my real name is John Patrick Perona.”
HC: Describe yourself in 3 words!
JP: “Rustic, extroverted and Midwestern.”
HC: What are some of your hobbies/interests?
JP: “Fly fishing, Fantasy Football, curling, grilling, beer connoisseur, shuffleboard, darts, mini golfing, book club and sailing.”
HC: Where did you go abroad last semester?
JP: “Madrid, Spain.”
HC: What are you most excited about being back at USD?
JP: “Speaking English, spending American currency, stimulating the U.S. economy, American soil, Mission Beach and Pennant Thursdays.”
HC: How do you feel about being nominated as a Campus Cutie?
JP: “I’m truly honored. I’d like to thank my stylist Parker Mays and my mother Joanne. I wouldn’t be here without them.”
