It’s that time of year again; the time when guys from various campus orginzation compete to win the annual title of Mr. University. USD’s Theta puts on a male- pageant as their philanthropy to benefit the Theta Foundation and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), which supports foster children. It’s fitting that this year’s theme was “King of the Jungle” because, my goodness, it truly was survival of the fittest up there on that stage. The competitors strived to hit higher notes, execute harder moves, and look more jaw- dropping in their outfits all for the extreme honor of being crowned “Mr. University”.  The audience got to enjoy not only the rugged contestants, but also the great raffle prizes. Theta gave away restaurant gift cards, sports game tickets, fishing trips and more! The event was a hit per usual. Everyone always enjoys this event because it’s a good laugh that benefits a good cause. And all the contestants love competing in it. This year there were 11 contestants representing the following organizations:
Mr. DSP: Nick Bunick
Mr. Beta: Tyler Banks
Mr. PRIDE: Crash Ketcham
Mr. Sigma Pi: Jesse Nebres
Mr. Intervarsity: Alex DaoÂ
Mr. Pi Kapp: Thomas Marino
Mr. SigEp: Brandon HolmÂ
Mr. Delt: Jack Richardson
Mr. PhiKap: Stephen Dooley
Mr. FIJI: Alec Palmer
Mr. Lambda: Clay Oliver.
If you were unable to attend, I’m happy to inform you that Mr. Beta, Tyler Banks, took home the title of Mr. U! Mr. DSP, Nick Bunick, was runner up. I know I can speak on behalf of the USD community when I say thank you, Theta, for putting on such a spectacular event! Congratulations. I can’t wait to see what next year’s Mr. University has in store for USD.
