Tell us something that most people don’t know about you.
When I was 12 years old I was actually an unreal bowler. We had a bowling alley in the next town over called Pro Lanes, and one day my mom thought it would be a good idea for us to join the junior bowling league. I got really good and joined their bowling team. I had my own ball and I had multiple shirts with my name on the sleeve. I could “hook” ball like you see on TV. My best score is 244. I stopped bowling cause I thought it was kind of embarrassing. If you ever want to hustle someone at your local bowling alley, call me.
Dan, you’ve been known to make a few people laugh. What makes you laugh?
My favorite comedian right now is Bill Burr, that dude is flat out hilarious. However, a common theme between my roommates and I is our love for watching World Star Hip Hop Best Vine Compilations. When the weather is garbage on Sundays, we stream the computer to the TV and watch them. They will change your life.
Who inspires you and why?
I would say my mom. My mom was very religious growing up and actually was going to become a nun before she met my dad on a blind date. She then became a physical therapist and had three sons. It just goes to show that you never know what life is going to throw at you and that some things are and are not meant to be. I would not consider it inspirational exactly, but that I have learned a lot from her story.
If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not, living or dead, real or fictional, with whom would it be?
I would trade places with Cedric Diggory because he pretty much ran Hogwarts.
What’s your biggest pet peeve?
My biggest pet peeve is when people post extremely long Snapchat stories. Snapchat is not twitter, so I don’t like when people treat it like it is. Also, another pet peeve of mine is when people Instagram and Snapchat food. I know what I had to eat today; I do not need to know what you had to eat.
If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you have and why?
I would first have an axe to chop down trees and use for firewood. Second, I would have the Harry Potter books because I have always wanted to read them but was just too lazy. I am also a slow reader so it would take a really long time. Last, I would have my dream girl. That would also give me someone to slowly read the Harry Potter books to. Hopefully the girl would come with a lighter in her back pocket cause that would help as well.
Where is your favorite place to go on a date?
This is an easy one. It saves money and your girl will absolutely love it. Everyone always talks about the great sunsets in San Diego. The sunrise is even better. Breakfast sunrise picnics are my favorite dates. You buy all the groceries the night before and wake up 30 minutes before the sunrise to make all the food. When I did it we had bacon, eggs, muffins, strawberries and all that other good stuff.
Can you tell us a funny story of something that happened to you lately?
I was babysitting my girlfriend’s bunny over this past weekend. I fell asleep shirtless on the couch. I forgot to put the bunny back in his cage. He was running around in the pitch black all night. Finally at 5 am, he hopped on my chest and I woke up and wondered what he was doing. Next thing I know he pisses all over me. I had to throw out my best pillow. He is never allowed back.
Describe yourself in three words.
Football is the first word. Not because I play football but because I love the watching it. My fantasy football league is a big part of my life. Intense is an understatement in terms of a word to describe my fantasy football league. I fly home in the summer because we rent out an entire Bed & Breakfast for our draft party weekend and 30+ people attend. The league is comprised of 11 of my best high school friends. The second word would be fun. Anyone that knows me knows that I like to have a good time. The last world would be 1969. If you ask any one of my close friends they would tell you I was born in the wrong decade.
How do you feel about being this week’s Campus Celebrity?
This is an interesting nomination since I am only considered a part-time student in the eyes of USD, which is a great thing because that means I only pay $75 per semester for parking. I hope this inspires all 5th year kids to stay involved on campus and keep maintaining those valuable relationships you built during college.
