2016 Spring Fashion Show: In Review
The San Francisco State Apparel Design and Merchandising department hosted their annual Spring showcase on Thursday night with Runway 2016: Emerge. The fashion show was held at the Galleria, inside of the San Francisco Design Center. Designers and merchandisers showcased their work and shared stories of challenge, inspiration, ambition and personal experience of being an SFSU student. The senior class also had the opportunity to present their final collections that they have been working on all semester.
Amongst the varied selection of designs were futuristic inspired looks, athletic wear, wedding gowns, and spring ensembles. Each collection was distinctive and creative. My personal favorite was “Lucent”, a collection by designer, Peyton Howell, that featured five minimalistic inspired pieces. Another favorite was a very cool and chic collection that consisted of all-black outfits designed by Alexis Prater.

Prior to attending the show, I did not know what to expect. But I was immediately blown away by such diverse and creative work of young designers. It was a night filled with fashion, cocktails and incredible talent.Â
