Are you ready to be back in Beacon Hills? New York Comic Con took place from October 6th-9th, and while we’ve known since the beginning of summer that Teen Wolf was coming back. New York Comic Con gave us a few unanswered questions about what to look forward to in the revival of Teen Wolf.Â
For those unfamiliar with Teen Wolf, the show debuted on MTV in June 2011 with a cast of up-and-coming young actors/actresses. The show follows the story of Scott Mccall, a high school sophomore living in the fictional town of Beacon Hills, California. Scott was bitten by a werewolf on the night of a full moon and thrown into the supernatural world along with his friends and family. The show takes us through the challenges and battles Scott and his pack face in their supernatural town. The show ran for six seasons, ending in September 2017, with most characters graduating and going off to college or staying in Beacon Hills.
As I mentioned earlier, this show began in 2011, and many of us, myself included, were in elementary or middle school when this show started. What made Teen Wolf stand out from other supernatural shows airing around the same time (Vampire Diaries, The Originals, The Walking Dead, Being Human) was that Teen Wolf felt like it was made for teenagers (just like the title says… duh). As their audience grew up, so did the characters. We’ve all experienced letting go of certain friends for many reasons, and it’s the same in Teen Wolf. We must learn to live without those friends, just like Scott and his friends do.
Another reason Teen Wolf did so incredibly well is how invested its audience is in certain characters. It’s not all about the “boy who got bit by a werewolf” it’s about the girl who has visions of her dead aunt, the girl that can predict when someone is about to die, the girl that’s trying to kill her mother, or the sidekick that carried the entire show (…iykyk). We were locked in for several other factors besides the “Teen Wolf” Scott Mccall.Â
So when the show came to an end in 2017, a lot of fans were struck with the reality of “Will we ever return to Beacon Hills?” The question was finally answered over the summertime when fans became aware of Teen Wolf: The Movie and a new show called Wolf Pack.Â
New York Comic Con hosted a Teen Wolf and Wolf Pack panel, with the majority of the cast coming together on the stage to discuss what fans should expect from this revival. Here’s what you need to know.
- We have a release date!!
Wolf Pack and Teen Wolf will be available to stream on Paramount Plus on January 26th, 2023. Start planning your watch party now!Â
- The storyline of Teen Wolf takes place 15 years after season six ends.Â
This timeline places most characters in their early to mid-30s, again allowing the audience to feel like the characters have grown up, just like us.Â
- Allison and Lydia’s emotional reunion (Spoilers ahead)
Allison (Played by Crystal Reed) and Lydia (Played by Holland Roden) were one of the early girl duos we were introduced to in Teen Wolf. But when Allison was killed at the end of season 3B, which left many characters distraught and upset, we had to say goodbye to Allison and Lydia’s friendship. But with Allison returning from the dead, fans anticipate an emotional reunion for these two characters, especially since Allison doesn’t seem to be herself.Â
- Scott dealing with depression
Tyler Posey (The actor who portrays Scott Mccall) said during NYCC that Scott is going through depression and loneliness now that he’s living in Los Angeles and working as a veterinarian. He’s separated himself from Beacon Hills’s chaos, which left him always on edge. But now, he’s lonely and perhaps is even missing the thrill of being part of something huge, but most importantly, he misses his friends. Again this behavior mimics how original Teen Wolf fans feel. We miss seeing these characters and watching the battles that they endure.Â
We have a bit of a wait until Teen Wolf and Wolf Pack hit Paramount Plus, but rest assured, we’ll be back in Beacon Hills soon enough.
