In honor of Season 6 premiering on April 24th, let’s take a look at where we left off last season! So where are each of the characters right now?

Stannis and Friends

(Source)If you recall, the last episode of season 5 started off with Stannis preparing to march on Winterfell and take the North but he faced many challenges including lack of food and men deserting him. Davos kept on telling Stannis that it wasn’t the right time to march but he didn’t listen and sent Davos back to Castle Black so he could follow Melisandre’s orders and burn his daughter, Shireen, to give him more luck moving forward. This does not go well and many more of his men (and Melisandre) desert him, something that becomes his downfall at the battle that ensues at Winterfell leading to his ultimate death by Brienne of Tarth.

Sansa Stark and Reek

In this episode, Sansa attempts to place a candle in the window of the broken tower to signal her, “friends in the North,” for help as she has been consistently taken advantage of by her new husband Ramsay Bolton (aka the most hated man on television) but she is stopped by his obsessive lover, Miranda, who threatens Sansa with a bow and arrow. Reek, who is becoming more and more Theon everyday, pushes her over the side of the scaffolding and she dies right before Ramsay comes back from the battle causing them to run and jump over the side of the huge walls of Winterfell and we don’t see them after that.

Daenerys Targaryen and Company

Across the narrow sea, the fighting pits came to a close with the Great Games and a direct attack on the people of Mereen and the Queen herself by the Sons of the Harpy until Drogon, Daenerys’ famous dragon, comes and flies away with her. At this point, no one is sure what to do but Jorah and Daario decide to go search for her in the wilderness leaving Tyrion Lannister, Missandei, and Grey Worm to be in charge of Mereen until she returns. Daenerys is somewhere in a vast green landscape and finds herself surrounded by thousands of Dothraki warriors leaving the audience in shock and in the dark as to what happens to her.

The King’s Landing Crew

With the arming of the faith militant group, many of the highest born of the Seven Kingdoms have found themselves imprisoned including: Cersei Lannister, Margery Tyrell, and Lorris Tyrell. This leaves Tommen Baratheon despondent but Cersei works her magic and ends up confessing so she can go back to the Castle and get her revenge on the faith. She walks through the streets naked followed by the nun woman who repeats, “shame,” after every step; something that the audience has come to want for the wicked Cersei. This scene ends with the Mountain, Sandor Clegane, picking Cersei up and bringing her to safety with the Maester within the Castle.

Jaime Lannister and Dorne

(Source)

Jaime goes to Dorne to get Myrcella back after the Sand Snakes threaten the Lannisters because of Oberyn’s death in the previous season. Cersei urges Jaime to get their daughter back and he does with the help of Bronn and some diplomacy. He finds himself on a ship back to King’s Landing telling Myrcella that he is her father only for her to die of poison from Oberyn’s widow – Ellaria Sand

Arya Stark

(Source)

After murdering Sir Meryn Trant, the first person on Arya’s list of people to murder, Arya finds herself having to atone for the wrong life she took. In the final scene in which we see Arya, she yells, “I can’t see!” and we proceed to see her eyes and it is clear that she is now blind.

Jon Snow at the Wall

(Source)

After Jon returns from the attack by the White Walkers at Hardhome with thousands of wildlings, his men are not as fond of the Lord Commander (if they were ever fond of him at all). Ollie comes into his office area and tells him that a wildling knows where his Uncle Benjen (a throwback to seasons 1 and 2) is and that he was at Hardhome leading Jon to run out only to find a sign that says “traitor”. His men line up and one after another, with Allister Thorne being the first, they stab Jon in the stomach and the final picture that we see is Jon’s eyes open with blood pooling around him.

The new Game of Thrones season comes out tomorrow, enjoy and remember: valar morghulis.

Hey there!I'm Karleigh Shepard, an aspiring writer currently living in San Francisco and attending San Francisco State University as a freshman English major. I'm from SoCal, so NorCal has been quite a change for me but I love it! In high school I was a cheerleader, a Peer Leader, Vice President of my drama department, and an active participant in musicals and shows. Although I don't do all of that in college, those experiences really shaped me into who I am today and I'm so thankful that I did them. I also love music of all kinds; my favorites include Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Arctic Monkeys, Mac DeMarco, Best Coast, Foxygen, The Vaccines, and so much more.I hope you enjoy my articles!- Karleigh Shepard
