Okay guys, here’s a list of what we like and what we don’t, plain and simple. If you’re ever wondering why a girl has called it off with you… well let’s just say you may want to read this.
Here are the top five turn “offs” and “ons” that our San Francisco collegiettes have expressed to us in a very casual survey. If you know a guy friend that needs a little help, send him our article. He’ll thank you later.
The “Offs”
1. Big Ego: this annoys almost everyone. Being confident and proud is one thing, but being overly cocky about your proud moments is the biggest turn off for women! Guys, keep that in mind we don’t get impressed that way.
2. Bad B.O.: If his smell turns you off, there’s no way he’ll turn you on. Guys, we live on a planet that provides us water, soap, scrub, and perfume/cologne, so it confuses us when you don’t use it. We don’t want to hug a damp shirt with an aroma of nasty body odor. Just remember guys, clean up after a long night out or after the gym (a little extra colonge doesn’t hurt).
3. Bad Attitude: There’s a reason there’s low attendance at pity parties. Negativity will get you no where in a relationship, or in life! Men who have bad attitudes will ultimately just piss off their girlfriend, or crush. Be positive and optimistic because this also translates to support for your significant other, which is very important in the long run.
4. Unmotivated: College is the time to create goals and be motivated! Some college guys, as hot as they can be, have a tendency to not care; this is one of the biggest turn offs for us young motivated college women. We need a guy who can keep up with us. Because really, what collegiette wants a guy who isn’t attempting to build a future for himself?
5. Bad Manners: Not a lot of guys have manners these days. So this when you put yourself out to open the door for us, this adds points to your name. Please don’t talk with your mouth full, say “thank you,” and treat the waitress with respect. Bad manners is a huge red flag signaling immaturity and makes us wonder if someday we’ll be the waitress you’re being rude to.
The “Ons”
1. Well Dressed & Polished: This includes smelling good. A guy should present himself with clean, (even ironed) clothing, cologne that makes us ladies want to jump on top of them (isn’t that what guys want anyway?), and styled, clean hair. Guys, it’s all about how you present yourself. First impressions always count when trying to attract a collegiette.
2. Honesty: The one thing that girls always want is honesty. Don’t lie, it’s that simple. If guys lie to their girlfriends, we tend to become suspicious and this creates problems. There’s a reason Rick is more popular on the farm than Shane, may I also remind you he also has the girl (for now).
3. Humble: A non-arrogant guy shows a lot about their character. Christina Karma, junior, says “it shows a lot if a guy can be successful without bragging about every little accomplishment.” ‘Nuff said.
4. Motivated & Goal-Oriented: One of the most attractive things a guy can have are goals and motivation to reach those goals. Hard working men show us that they are trying to make a life for themselves and create a future…possibly with us ;)
5. Positive Energy: Okay, we’re not saying that you have to be super, super cheery all the time, but there’s nothing more attractive than an awesome smile and a good attitude. Remember positive things happen to positive people.
