Songs to match your mood

Do you pick the music you listen to based on how you’re feeling? So many people love to use music as a way to escape or cope with life. Ways that some people use music as a way to cope is by matching the songs they are listening to to their mood. I can say from personal experience that matching your songs to your mood is a great way to think, cry, feel happy, whatever your emotions may be, music is an amazing way to do that. If you are lost and don’t know certain songs to match your mood here are a couple suggestions that you could try for different moods.

Need a lil Throwback

When you’re feeling happy and just want to listen to something upbeat I would personally suggest music from the early to mid 2000’s but it doesn’t have to be. Personally, listening to throwback songs always makes me happy and puts me in a good mood. Some songs that you could try include:

  • Empire State of Mind by JAY-Z, Alicia Keys
  • Midnight Memories by One Direction
  • I Lived by OneRepublic
  • Someone To You by BANNERS
  • Everybody Talks by Neon Trees
  • Nobody by Hozier
  • Feel Something Good by Biltmore
  • Love You Like a Love Song Baby by Selena Gomez
  • Riff Off by Pitch Perfect Soundtrack

Let the Tears Flow

When I’m feeling sad I love listening to sad music because it just feels right. It helps me validate that it’s ok to be sad no matter how big or small the issue may be that’s causing my sadness and it helps me calm down. It also makes me feel like I’m in a movie or show and something sad happened. Some songs you could try include:

  • Roslyn by Bon Iver, St. Vincent
  • Funeral by Phoebe Bridgers
  • K. By Cigarettes After Sex
  • Someone To Stay by Vancouver Sleep Clinic
  • Skinny Love by Bon Iver
  • Fade Into You by Inhaler
  • Atlantis by Seafret
  • Anchor by Novo Amor
  • Bloom Later by Jesse

Time to Vibe

Now, I know this isn’t really a mood but more of a vibe, but one of my favourite things to do is taking late night drives and blasting music with the windows down. I think that this is something a lot of people do, so if you’re looking for songs to blast, here are my favourites :

  • Riptide by Vance Joy
  • Daddy Issues by The Neighborhood
  • Sex, Drugs, Etc. by Beach Weather
  • Still into You by Paramore
  • 8TEEN by Khalid
  • Dark Red by Steve Lacy
  • Ribs by Lorde
  • Paradise by Bazzi
  • Electric Love by BORNS
  • Young, Wild & Free by Snoop Dogg, Wiz Khalifa, Bruno Mars

Randoms

These are some of my favourite songs to listen to, when I’m feeling a certain way. I hope you try some of these when you are feeling happy, sad, or when you just want to vibe. Some honourable mentions that I would like to include, because it would feel wrong if I didn’t, would include:

  • Young Dumb & Broke by Khalid
  • Juicy by The Notorious B.I.G.
  • Love On The Brain by Rihana
  • Cupid’s Chokehold by Gym Class Heroes
  • People Watching by Conan Gray
  • Mind Over Matter by Young the Giant
  • Someone New by Hozier
  • Black And White by Niall Horan
