Zipping around the City with Zipcar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at San Francisco chapter.

Being a student in the city there are pretty much only two ways to get around besides walking: public
transportation and cabs.

Although the public transportation in San Francisco is super cheap, we all know how long it can take to arrive at your destination, and it can be even more of a challenge when you have to take multiple buses to get somewhere.

Also, because most of us are on a college budget, cabs are usually out of the question -especially when you are just trying to go grocery shopping.

Even the simplest errands become stressful, like picking up friends from the airport, finding rides to go explore the city, or getting a ride to Target when you don’t have a car.

That is where Zipcars come in.

Zipcars are probably one of the best inventions for today’s college kids.  There easy, fast, convenient and pretty cheap compared to public transportation.

Zipcar is a company that allows students to reserve cars that are located right on campus for hourly and daily rates anytime. Usually the age limit to rent a car is 21, but with Zipcar SFSU students only have to be 18. And to top it all off, when you sign up as a student you also get a great discount. The annual fee is only $15 and most cars are around $8 an hour. With a car full of people, that’s even less than a Muni pass per person.

To get a Zipcar:
•                Go to www.zipcar.com/sfsu to sign up and get your Zipcard
•                Reserve a car on the phone or online
•                Unlock your car using the Zipcard
•                Drive!

Things included
•                Gas card
•                Insurance
•                Fast-track pass

Your life will become so much easier once you sign up with Zipcar, whether you’re attending college in the big city or out in the Midwest!

Some great places to go with your Zipcar; In-N-Out, Golden Gate Bridge, Target, Airport & Twin Peaks!

*Note: The above photo is not a Zipcar.
