Caitlin Cronin

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

As Dancer Appreciation Week comes to a close, our latest campus celebrity is a dancer and then a whole lot more. The sophomore Psychology/Pre-OT major spent the fall semester studying abroad in Carlow, Ireland, and became an RA when she returned for the spring semester.

Caitlin Cronin hails from Chicago, and continues to stay busy with various Campus Ministry activities and Phi Eta Sigma. When she’s not participating in academic activities, this spunky bunch of energy enjoys hanging out with her friends and watching movies.

Caitlin joined Dance Marathon last year as a freshman and decided to return this year as a dancer.

“Last year I heard so many people talking about how much fun it was and how much it impacted them, so I decided to join because I wanted to be a part of that and help children with cancer,” she said.

This dancer’s favorite part of the Big Event is the big reveal because everyone finds out how much money will be donated to the children and families. She is also looking forward to donating her hair during the event.

Her hair may be hard to donate in a few months though, because it has traveled with her all the way to another country and back. Caitlin decided to study abroad because she heard about it from a friend who had been there and loved it, so she wanted to see it for herself.

“My favorite part was traveling to other countries, traveling around Ireland with my mom when she came, and getting super close with the girls I lived with. Also, my favorite part was learning so much outside the classroom and about myself and life,” Caitlin explained.

The hardest part was the crazy transition back to the states because of the time and culture change. However, she said that it has gotten easier since she has gotten back into a routine at school. Her time abroad led to her dream job of getting paid to travel around the world.

Lastly, there are 3 things people don’t know about this adventurous dancers: 1. “I absolutely love musicals and have seen over 70 of them.” 2. “My dog is named Slinky, after the character in Toy Story.” 3. “My favorite sport is softball.”

No matter where you run into this busy Bee, in the lower chapel, on RA duty, or at the Dance Marathon Big Event, you are sure to have a significantly better day as a result of her bubbly personality and constant smile!
