So you’re on your period. Yay… right? I know that feeling, for some it is pretty easy, for others it can be debilitating. I generally don’t have to worry about things like that because of my birth control, but mother nature decided to bless me today with her gift. Here are some ways that I have found that help fight period cramps.

1. Heating Pads!

I can not stress this enough. If you are a female who menstruates you need to own a heating pad, I didn’t own one because the last time I had the gift was four years ago. Luckily, my roommate owns one, she was a godsend today.

2. Chocolate!

I wish I had chocolate in the kitchen but I didn’t and once again my roommate was a godsend. She went to Dunkin to get coffee and she got me a chocolate donut!!! She is the literal best I guess it helps that all three of us are sort of in sync currently. What fun right?

3. Pain Killers.

Today before I caved in and took some, I said to myself you don’t need it you can do it without it. I was so wrong, I almost was to the point of crying it was so bad, I could barely stand. It took a while for them to work but eventually, the Aleve kicked in and I felt better.

If you are asking why after four years it decided to come through, I have what you call PCOS, which is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. It plagues many women and has no qualms on who it hurts. Lately, I have been putting flax seed on my food throughout the day, today when I was trying to figure out what changed I looked up what flaxseed can do with a period. Turns out it can help with PCOS and can help regulate periods. So since I am getting more nutrients that way I guess this might be a regular thing.
