Entering my Last Year of College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

I moved into my off-campus but campus-owned house this year and started right at work but a few weeks ago I had a day off so I was thinking about many things and one was THIS IS MY LAST YEAR! I will graduate in the Spring and be done with college so I want to make sure that I study hard but also have a lot of fun. I will also be training all my replacements soon for Her Campus, DEI as the Ambassador, SAAT, etc. and it makes me a little sad so I want to list things I want to do this year before I graduate because this is my final chance as I get ready to go out into the world as a teacher.

  1. Go see the Quad City River Bandits Baseball game.
  2. Have a party in my house.
  3. Cook a big dinner for my friends to all eat together.
  4. Attend as many Late night @ SAU events as possible.
  5. Sit out on my back porch and read a book or just relax.
  6. Win an award at the end of year Student Award Ceremony or at the End of Year Celebration our HC Chapter does.
  7. Graduate with Honors or wearing an honor society’s cords.
  8. Seeing my cousin, Haley perform and band concerts as she is entering this year as a freshman.

I am nervous to enter this year as I think about student teaching coming this spring but also walking across the graduation stage in May but I am so ready for all the memories that are to come. I have grown so much since I started college as a music education major in 2018. It has been a long year with extra years here as I changed majors during COVID. I am looking forward to hearing them say, “Veronica Alfred Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education with an Endorsement in Special Education and minor in Music”. It’s been a crazy journey here and this is my last chapter at SAU.

Veronica A(V) is the Campus Correspondent at HC @ SAU. She oversees the entire chapter including editorial, events, social media, etc. Beyond HC, V is involved on campus. She is the President of DAPi. She is the Social Media Director for SAAT, and a Sexual Assault Advocate. Veronica is majoring in Early Childhood Education with an endorsement in Special Education and a minor in Music. She is currently student teaching!!! In her freetime, V plays the flute and other instruments and can sing. She used to play and coach softball. Veronica was born in Florida but now lives in Illinois. She also has 2 cats at home. She was the D.E.I. Ambassador for 2 years.
