Although November, aka National Gratitude Month comes to an end, that doesn’t mean the giving needs to end! As I was reading over the SAU Waggle this morning, there are several toy and clothing donations plus other service opportunities through campus ministry and SAU organizations on campus.
Campus Ministry is doing their annual Advent Giving Tree for kids at Project Renewal. If you’d like to participate in the Advent Giving Tree, as stated in the SAU Waggle, “You take a tag off the Giving Tree in Christ the King Chapel Gathering Space, purchase a gift for the child, wrap it and return it to the tree by Friday, December 8th.” Along with the Clothing Drive, stated in the SAU Waggle, “Wanted good, used clothing, bedding or towels for the Clothing Center at Minnie’s Maison. You may place your donations in the bins in Christ the King Chapel or in the Residence Halls.”
As I mentioned in my previous article “Happy Gratitude Month!”, even though some of our SAU Service Opportunities are through Campus Ministry, you don’t have to be religious to take part. Other Service opportunities not through Campus Ministry can be volunteering at your local non-profit organizations. The Quad Cities Chamber has a list of non-profit organizations you can look into here: https://member.quadcitieschamber.com/list/category/non-profit-organization-128
In my opinion, giving back should be something we do year round, not only during the holidays. But the Holidays is a good place to start, where Giving Back Begins With You! How have you gave back this November? How can you continue to do so throughout the end of the year?
