March for Our Lives was on March 24, 2018. The main event was in Washington D.C., but there were over 800 other events across the country and around the world.
Following the Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, the students led this demonstration. It was partnered with the nonprofit organization Everytown for Gun Safety.
Hoping desperately for reevaluation and changes to how guns are dealt with in America, “protesters urged for universal background checks on all gun sales, raising the federal age of gun ownership and possession to the age of 21, closing of the gun show loophole, a restoration of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban, and a ban on the sale of high-capacity magazines in the United States.”
There were between 1.2 to 2 million protesters, making it one of the largest in American History, surely something to be proud of.
Celebrities even backed the protest by joining in and spreading the word. Many even registered to vote at these marches.
This event is seen as a large move to achieve change in the United States. With the future generation standing up and taking charge, great things are sure to come. They will not back down until America is safer.
