Valentine’s Day is cool and all, but when it comes to college and hanging with your friends, St. Patrick’s Day is the holiday to go for. Green beer is way more satisfying than a box of chocolates in the shape of a heart. Here are four awesome things to do for St. Patrick’s Day in the Quad Cities area.
Green Beer
Green beer looks awful, but the idea of it is great. Who doesn’t love a holiday themed beer, different from the rest? I know I do. Surprisingly there are many spots in the Quad Cities for this creative fad. Granite City is one of those places, as well as Kelly’s Pub and even Rookies.
Corned beef and Cabbage
Corned beef and Cabbage is probably one of the most traditional holiday meals on St. Patrick’s Day. Some people like it and some people don’t, but on this holiday it’s hard not to. Mac’s Tavern and Kelly’s Irish Pub are just two places in the QC that offer this meal. Not only are they serving it on a plate, but also as corn beef topped nachos, yum!
Kelly’s and Kavanagh’s
Kelly’s Pub in Davenport always holds an annual St. Patrick’s Day event. It has all you can drink green beer, live music and lots of good Irish food. The Iowa side isn’t the only location that throws a big bash for this great green holiday. Kavanagh’s in Rock Island does, too! This event is much like the Kelly’s Pub event, but they also bring in Irish step dancers; all for free! Do not miss out on these fun events for the holiday.
Parades
The Quad Cities has a major parade coming from Rock Island to Downtown Davenport. This is earlier in the morning, and kicks off the rest of the activities for the day.
