Sean Jankowski, ‘12

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Collegiettes can most likely find this week’s Campus Celebrity in Lee Lohman announcing for a basketball game or on SAUtv.  Around campus, he always has a smile and a “hello” for the people he passes by.  He is a Clinton, Iowa native who is very active throughout the St. Ambrose community.

Senior, Sean Jankowski, has always been a loyal Chicago sports fan.  He enjoys following the White Sox, Bulls, Bears, and Blackhawks.  At Ambrose, he is lucky enough to be able to bring his love for sports into his education.

As a radio/television major, Sean is able to cover many Ambrose sporting events.  When games are covered on location by KALA, he is entrusted with many jobs.

“We have to make sure all the equipment is working.  If I’m back at the station, I have to make sure I run breaks at the right time, as well as make sure that people who are on location don’t sound too loud.”

Sean is also passionate about his work for SAUtv, especially on Dateline SAU.

“I really enjoy providing people with information.”

He is able to do this by helping in all aspects of production for SAUtv.  Sometimes Sean runs a camera.  Other days, he might be editing or writing a story.  Through his education in radio and TV, Sean is able to combine his love for sports and his desire to provide information into his education.

However, his involvement goes far past academics.  Sean is also active in many clubs and organizations around Ambrose.  He is the sports editor of the Buzz, St. Ambrose’s campus newspaper.  Sean is involved in campus ministry, Bridge Bible Fellowship, and campus recreation.

When asked about his love for Ambrose, Sean says that his favorite part of campus is the quad.

“It is a great place to socialize with people, hang out, and get away from the busyness of school.”

As a seasoned senior, Sean has seen all there is to see at St. Ambrose.  His advice for underclassmen?

“Be involved, branch out, and be yourself.  Stand up for what is right–even if you are standing alone.”

After graduating this May, Sean hopes to find a job in the radio or TV market, specifically doing work with sports.

Mary is a senior at St. Ambrose University majoring in English and journalism. She is originally from Naperville, IL and hopes to one day be back in Chicago. In the past Mary has interned for Sourcebooks, a publishing company in Naperville, and this past year she studied abroad in London and interned at Parliament. She hopes to one day be an editor in publishing at a magazine or at a publishing group like Penguin. Besides being the founding editor of Her Campus St. Ambrose, Mary is also a writing tutor at St. Ambrose. In her free time, she loves to travel, hang out with family and friends, and shop a little bit too much at Gap and J. Crew!
