I started 3rd grade! I was super excited and nervous on my first day when it started. I was overjoyed by the end of the day and couldn’t wait to be back the next morning.
So, 3 weeks later here I am in the classroom and already taking on increased responsibility. Also within those first few days, we had 3 snow days. I love the teacher that I am with! She is open to all of my ideas and gave me a lot of responsibility right out of the gate. On my 2nd day, I took over the morning routine and on day 3 I started teaching grammar. Starting Tuesday the 23rd I am taking over teaching Religion. By the middle of February, I start full-day teaching for my first placement. I also really adore my students. I have 22 Little Munchkins as I call them. Some have even made me some winter drawings. I also can’t forget to mention that we have a pet hamster named Humphrey.
I spend a lot of my time lesson planning and creating activities for my Little Munchkins. St.Paul the Apostle has a feast day coming up on Tuesday so I planned 2 days worth of activities for the religion time block. For February it’s African American History Month. My teacher is having me plan a month’s worth of social studies lessons on the topic so each day we are going to learn about a different person each day who made a big impact in history.
Also, there is Catholic Schools Week coming up which completely throws the normal school week schedule out the schedule. On Sunday they have mass, open house, and pancake breakfast. Monday is games around the school and a free throw contest. Tuesday is a dodgeball tournament and spelling bee. Wednesday has a teacher appreciation lunch, 8th-grade volleyball vs. teachers, and putt-putt in the library. Thursday is mass at the local catholic high school and a talent show. Friday has a pep assembly and basketball games. All week has bingo with the principal, and out-of-uniform days.
