The TikTok called “Villains aren’t Born they are Made” has some great lyrics and I want to tie it to different villains and dive into how they became a villain of the story.

From Disney I think of Hades in both Descendents and Hercules. The Gods
randomly picked who would deal/receive and run the underworld. He was sent to
a different world alone and the other Gods would not invite him to things because
The underworld matched his gloomy and strict personality. The only reason
people associate Hades as evil is because he rules the underworld.
Watch the armies gather suit. Someones’ gotta win and lose.
From Harry Potter I think of Lord Voldemort also known as Tom Riddle. He
became a villain because of his own self since there were other factors and
forces at work. His mother was a witch and father was a muggle. His father did
not love his mother and she used magic to make him fall in love which was an
act against nature. Voldemort was conceived out of this action. He obviously
didn’t come from a good family as he is the last descendant of Salazar Slytherin.
They say my heart is almost black well baby who’s to blame for that.
From Disney I think of Maleficent. She is shown to have morals and remorse but
only became evil because of King Stefan. Stefan becomes corrupt and motivated
by greed which leads him to be instructed to kill Maleficent but instead of killing
her, he drugs her and she is mutilated.

From Disney I think of Frollo from the movie The Hunchback of Notre
Dame. He becomes the villain when Esmeralda enters the picture. His lust drives
him insane. Frollo is shown to be a man with a god complex and warped morals. He gives her an opportunity to come to him but she doesn’t which drives him crazy because she didn’t want him which drove him to become a villain since he wasn’t stable

From Marvel I think of Loki. He became the villain when he was lied to all of his
life. He was raised to hate, fight and kill Asgard’s greatest enemy, the Frost
Giants who were actually his people. He was a misguided antagonist.

From Disney I think of Cruella de Vil. She became the villain after watching her
mother died in front of her eyes. She did it out of a mission of revenge.

From Disney I think of Scar. He was rejected and dismissed by his own brother.
He is left powerless, angry, and hungry for revenge. He tried to cheat his way to
the throne but it didn’t work.

From the Magicians I think of Martin Chatwin. He become the villain after years
of sexual abuse from a man named Plover. Martin wanted to stay in Fillory
forever but the magical land tried to kick him out. Martin later abandoned his identity and went on to become one of the most feared creatures known as The Beast with Moths covering his head.
Scream it louder when they fall. I’m never satisfied at all.
From Disney I think of Ursula. She was banished for a valid reason but
she felt that she needed to take the steps she did which led there. She was
betrayed and developed great hate against the human world and of her father.
She no longer wanted to be a mermaid so she took the trident to transform her
tail into tentacles, becoming a Sea Witch.

I think of the Joker. He has become a villain of circumstances that made him into
the monster that we see him as today. He was not born inherently bad. He has
uncontrollable laughter that is due to the Pseudobulbar Affect. We learn that as a child that his mother’s boyfriend was abusive and hit him on the head. During one of his Stand-up sets he started to uncontrollably laugh and could not finish the show where he was ridiculed by Comedy star Murray Franklin. The Joker is also seen to suffer from mental illnesses. He also doesn’t feel emotions like a normal person.

I think of Captain Hook from Once upon a time. He is passionate and not afraid
to raise his sword. He was cheated and had outside circumstances beyond his
control.
