Self-care is always important, regardless of the time of year or circumstances. But with finals right around the corner, it holds an even greater importance. It’s a necessity.

  • Do something good for your skin. Whether it be a bath with some epsom salt or doing a face mask- do something for your skin! When my skin feels good, I feel good.
  • Watch a movie, one of your favorites! Not a new one, but a movie you have seen hundreds of times. This gives time to just enjoy the movie without having any surprises.
  • Go for a walk! Simply getting outside releases a lot of tension in the body and mind.
  • Puzzling or coloring are always a go-to of mine. These activities allow for feelings of accomplishment with incredibly low stakes.
  • Just lay in bed or on the couch and do nothing. Literally nothing. Get curled up in a blanket and merely exist.
  • Have a hangout with some friends! Sit and chat, craft, write- anything under the sun. You’ll be smiling and refreshed in no time.
  • Calling mom never fails. It’s as simple as that.
  • Try making something new. I made a sugar scrub the other day and it was not only relaxing, but also satisfying. And you don’t need too many ingredients to make it- just sugar, coconut or almond oil, and an essential oil of your choosing. Eucalyptus is great for stress relief!
  • Cook or bake! Try out a new recipe or a treat you would love.
  • As frowned upon as this is, shop. Retail therapy is real. But for self-care purposes, limit yourself to just one thing. Books, sweaters, or hats are some of my favorites to brighten a day.

Try to relax, do anything you can to make it happen. Caring for yourself should be the number one priority, always. I wish you the best of luck with finals! You will do amazing!
