Why You Should Study Abroad

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SAU chapter.

Hey Everyone! I’m Eva, and i’m currently studying abroad in Spain!

I arrived January 25, this semester I’ll be writing mostly articles about studying abroad, where to travel, where to eat, and more. But, first I have to convince you to study abroad!

1. Once In a Lifetime Opportunity

Going abroad is an amazing experience, travel on your own, and truly figure out yourself. Especially if you study in Europe it gives you more opportunities to visit other countries, and other cultures which would enhance your overall experience. When else are we going to be in college and be able to spend six months in a completely different country?

2. Helps you Learn a New Culture

We’re all so used to American culture, so going abroad would really immerse and teach you a whole different culture. There’s so much history in Europe, I’ve only been here a few days but I feel like I’ve learned so much already. Also, if you go to a country with a different language it helps to learn the language so much quicker. I haven’t been in Spain long, but I feel like my Spanish is already getting better, vale.

3. Put You Outside of Your Comfort Zone

If going away to college wasn’t enough to get you to be more independent go abroad. You have to do a lot of things on your own, and it’s a great learning opportunity. Especially if the country you go to speaks a different language, then it forces you to learn more and get even more out of your comfort zone, but in a good way. I promise!

So, if you’re still considering studying abroad after this article, go visit the study abroad office in lower Cosgrove for more information!
