The Her Campus National Editors write about products we love and think you’ll love too. Her Campus has affiliate partnerships, so we get a share of the revenue from your purchase. All products are in stock and all prices are accurate as of publication.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SBU chapter.

Bee love

In addition to being a Black owned brand, this beauty company employs formerly incarcerated people to help them train in a job setting and relearn socialization skills.

True to their name, Bee Love only uses all natural, hive-to-jar ingredients. They do not test on animals and never use pesticides. Bee Love is interested in giving everyone an equal opportunity and believes that everyone deserves a second chance.

Along with the honey they sell, they sell honey infused products. Moisturizers, body creams, lip balms, and sugar scrubs. They also have merchandise like hats, water bottles, shirts, and sweatshirts. These are all reasonably priced and their collection sets would make a great gift for anybody.

Eu’Genia SHea

A mother-daughter duo started this company in 2014 when the mother was diagnosed with cancer. The company specializes in raw, unrefined shea butter from Ghana.

The shea butter is ethically sourced by women in Ghana, from the area where the mother was born. Eu’Genia Shea offer fair wages and opportunities to the female workers in Ghana. They also donate 15% of all profits back to those same women in the form of an education fund.

Their shea butter products are all natural and contain no harmful chemicals or ingredients many other moisturizers are made with. Eu’Genia sells different strength shea butters, hair and body oil, lip balm, and anti-aging balms.

The LIt. Bar: Bookstore & CHill

If you are ever in the Bronx and want a cool place to hang out, read books and drink wine, check out The Lit. Bar. This bookstore is truly one of a kind. It opened in 2019 to provide a place for book lovers to relax and unwind.

They offer a diverse selection of books to entice all readers. They also offer a wine bar. The founder Noëlle Santos is a dedicated reader herself. The Lit Bar.: Bookstore & Chill was the first bookstore to open in the Bronx area.

The inside has a contrasting graffiti and chandelier theme that fits with the two main points of the establishment. The wine list includes reds, whites, rosés and sparkling wines. There are also some delicious light snacking options like grazing boards, brunch boards, or gourmet popcorn.

Coco and Breezy Eyewear

I love sunglasses. They can take an outfit from a 10 to an 11. They’re also great for holding back hair on a windy beach.

Coco and Breezy are twin sisters who were inspired to create their own line of eyewear. Their designs have been featured in major publications like Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar. They have done collaborations with huge stars like Prince or businesses like Hershey’s and Circoc.

While their products are expensive, the designs are truly unique and have the upscale, designer feel of a store like Gucci or Prada. The creative twins also DJ and create visual art. Some of this visual art can be seen in the merchandise sold on their website. Their glasses are available online but are also carried by a lot of eyecare centers and Nordstrom.

Be Rooted

Be Rooted sells office supplies geared towards Black women specifically. The founder of the company, Jasmin Foster, noticed something was missing from the retail market – Black woman representation.

Foster created Be Rooted to empowering Black women by creating products they can see themselves in. Be Rooted manufactures journals, notebooks, and planners with Black women of all shapes and sizes on the covers. They sell pens and pouches with empowering messages embedded within.

Be Rooted products are available online and in Target. They sell kitchen items, beach towels, pillows, puzzles and more. Little knick-knacks like catchall trays, bookmarks or card games make perfect little gifts to let someone know you’re thinking of them.
