Over this past weekend, my school had a travel opportunity open for students to explore New York City. This was a chance for students to pay a small fee of $30 and the bus would leave at 4 a.m., drop us off in the city and pick us back up at 9 p.m. My friends and I jumped on this opportunity. As college students, we wanted to keep this day trip at a minimum with money spending, so we spent the day around the city exploring our way. Here are some of the things we did….

Christmas in Bryant Park

Our bus dropped us off and picked us up in Bryant Park and at the time they had a Christmas in the park event. A whole bunch of stands were opened with everything you could think of (a great place for Christmas gifts). They had a bunch of seasonal food and drinks; we got apple cider donuts and hot chocolate. Seriously some of the best donuts I’ve ever had…

Central Park

This is one on every tourist checklist and trust me; it is worth it. The scenery is one of the best parts, the park was filled with big rocks and gorgeous trees. I loved seeing the people all over the park, on tops of the rocks, and I’m a personal favorite of the man who played the trumpet in the park.

New York Public Library

I traveled to the city with a group of people who love to read, so, this was a must-stop. Here we were able to access a free museum where we saw the original stuffed animals that inspired Winnie the Pooh, The Handmaid’s Tale, and a copy of The Declaration of Independence. It was such a cool experience. On top of that, we were able to check out the bookstore and the beautiful design of the building.

Times Square

This is an NYC must-do, I mean literally, everyone does this. Seeing the city all lit up at night is something I recommend everyone to experience. Although, my favorite part of the city is the strange yet interesting people. In all of my hours of being there, we saw scammers jumping over people for money, naked people, a huge statue of liberty and transformers hanging out.

Grand Central Station

This was definitely on my bucket list, and I was so happy we had the chance to experience this. The top of the station has huge chandeliers and a mural over the ceiling. It had different astrological pictures, and as an astrology girl, I loved this. One downfall is this is a huge tourist site, so it was extremely packed. Get ready to either have some patience or become extremely frustrated.
