Fall begins next week on September 22, so that means it’s time to break out the flannels, grab a pumpkin spice latte, and play some great fall music. Not sure where to start? Here is a list of what I feel are some of the best songs to get into the fall mood.
Daddy Issues by the Neighbourhood
Witch Love by Nico Yaryan
Marjorie by Taylor Swift
“The autumn chill that wakes me up, You loved the amber skies so much”
If “August” is the Taylor Swift song of the summer, then “Marjorie” is the song of autumn. It not only gets you ready for the new season but also puts you right in the feels. Throughout the song, Taylor describes her relationship with her grandmother. This song comes from Taylor Swift’s ninth album, Evermore, and honestly, this entire album is great for fall. I suggest listening to the whole thing to really get in the fall mood.
Line Without a Hook by Ricky Montgomery
Angels Like You by Miley Cyrus
Halloween by Phoebe Bridgers
“Baby, it’s Halloween, And we can be anything”
Ok, I know this is an obvious one based on the title, but it just fits the fall vibe. This song is about seeing an old lover at a party and having all the feelings and good times come rushing back. The references to wearing masks and the haunting music makes this great for taking a walk as the leaves change or curling up in your bed and crying.
Little Freak by Harry Styles
505 by Arctic Monkeys
We fell in love in october by girl in red
“We fell in love in October, That’s why, I love fall”
Following up some sad songs, of course, should be a happy one and this fits that perfectly. This song is about, as the title explains, falling in love in October. With its references to nighttime and the stars, this song is perfect for sitting around and talking with friends late at night.
Drunk on Halloween by Wallows
Dark Red by Steve Lacy
See You Again (feat. Kali Uchis) by Tyler, The Creator
“I wonder if you look both ways, When you cross my mind”
This is another great love song about that one person you just can’t stop thinking about and hoping that they like you back. My friends and I have a lot of fun listening to this song on car trips. With its slow and calming music as well as vocals, it’s a great way to get into the fall season.
Find Me Here by Hayley Williams
Pluto Protector by Rex Orange County
I hope these songs help you get a good idea of the vibes you want for your fall playlist. If you are still feeling stuck, maybe ask a few friends for some of their favorite songs that they think fit the autumn season. That is what I did to write this article, and it led to us making a joined Spotify fall playlist. I highly suggest doing this, as it will help add a variety to your song choices and maybe even introduce you to new music that you could love.
