I interviewed St. Bonaventure Bonnies Men’s Basketball forward Tshiefu Ngalakulondi about his role and his expectations for himself and the team the rest of the season. The Bonnies basketball team is in full swing so I wanted to give an inside perspective from one of the players.
1. What was it like to start in the last six games? It’s pretty exciting, but at the same time I play the same way I would if I was coming off the bench.
2. What role do you see for yourself as the season continues? I see myself in that eight-man rotation.
3. What are some things you have improved on already this season? I’ve improved my jump shot and my ability to go clean up my teammates misses at the basket.
4. Where do you see the team during this four game home stand? I see the team going 4-0 during this four game home stand. We are coming together and we know what to do to win.
The Bonnies have won two of four games against Canisius College and Delaware State University. The Bonnies play Siena College (Dec. 5) and University of Buffalo (Dec.8) at the Reilly Center to close out the four game home stand.
5. Who do you think will be the Bonnies toughest opponent this season? The hardest teams to beat this season will be University of Buffalo, Davidson College and Syracuse University.
6. The Bonnies will play #17 ranked University of Buffalo Dec. 7 in the Reilly Center. How will the team prepare for this game? It is a big game but we’re taking it as if it were any regular game. The rankings do not matter to us and we are going into the game with confidence and to play well in hopes for a win.
7. What is your take on the Cayman Island Classic? The Cayman Island Classic showed me that you can’t just show up and play, you have to be prepared and be ready because anything could happen.
The Bonnies unfortunately lost all three games in the classic but were still missing players due to injuries.
8. How have students and community helped motivate the team in the Reilly Center? The fans are everything to the team and it’s hard to win without them.
9. Fun Fact: Who is your favorite basketball player? My favorite basketball player is forward Kevin Durant of the Golden State Warriors.
