Pinterest. What a wonderful app. My mom introduced me to it because I saw her pinning recipes, travel ideas, and lesson plans. When I first started, I used it for drawing ideas, funky wallpapers, and desserts I begged my mom to try.
Now it’s a place of escape and inspiration.
Many things can be found on Pinterest; but I am going to do a deep dive of my favorite boards to guide you through creating a fun, helpful, and cutesy account!
Fits
If you are into fashion, this is a great way to add pieces to your closet. You can even do sections within your boards. Here I have summer clothes, winter clothes, jewelry, accessories, fancy-wancy and so much more. This board reflects what I want my style to look like one day.
Words I Love <3
Due to pins being all types of photos, these words and quotes are on the most random things. It is not just a quote that is typed out. They are written in pretty colors, on a rug, or seen on a billboard. It is just a reminder that a motivational sentence can be seen in everyday life. Some of my favorite quotes pinned here are:
- “Use art to tell a secret”
- “Breathe, it’s just a bad day, not a bad life”
- “When a flower doesn’t bloom, you fix the environment it grows in, not the flower”
Food
Who doesn’t love a good recipe? This board is one of my oldest ones. I have been adding to it since I was in middle school. Yummy cakes were pinned for when my birthday rolled around, and mom asked what dessert I wanted. Big charcuterie platters that were probably worth thousands in cheese.
Art
Due to several years of taking art classes in high school, I have so many pins of artworks that I used for inspiration. Just because I am done with these classes, I will keep the pins. For one day I might have the opportunity to create again. Paper canyon structures, bow mugs, and abstract paintings are just a glimpse of the beauty found in this board.
Aesthetic
This is like a mood board. The sections I have created are pretty flowers, pretty food, life, art, the beach dream, livin’ in a fairytale, and so much more. These are just photographs that I think are beautiful. This board is all about the aesthetic.
Anything You are Interested in
Ultimately everything is up to you. Yes, this is considered social media, however, I see it as a way of discovery and imagination. While you can upload your own photos, it is mostly media created by other people that you are inspired by. There are no standards in Pinterest! This is a creative outlet that can be molded by your own interests.
Overall, Pinterest is a fun way to calm down after a long day. Just snuggle up with your favorite tunes playing, pinning away!
