You cannot look me in the eye and seriously tell me that “Midnights” by Taylor Swift deserved Album of the Year at the Grammy’s this year, and if you try to, I will punch you dead in the face.
Am I allowed to write that?
Anyways, stan Twitter, now X, and I agree. The Grammy’s are a complete and utter scam.
I am not qualified to decide who should or should not get awards for their musical productions, but I should be.
There was no possible scenario in my mind in which the Recording Academy did not give SZA’s “SOS” album of the year. Like, at all. Yeah, yeah, Taylor Swift is cool and talented.
Whatever. “SOS” has zero skips and might be her best album ever.
I am maybe a teeny bit biased because I did listen to it 176 times last year.
I am also so tired of seeing Taylor Swift on my television screen. Swifties come after me if you want, but “Midnights” was good at best. It certainly was no “SOS.” Does it have some hits? Absolutely! Go you, Taylor, but let’s not pretend it was better than the masterpiece SZA put out this year.
I vividly remember being out the night “Midnights” was dropped and desperately wanting the DJ to play “Snow On The Beach” which features Lana Del Rey. When it was played, I don’t think I’ve experienced that much disappointment in my life. It was the most painfully “okay” song I have ever heard. I’ve never felt that way about a song on “SOS” though…
But, alas, I have another bone to pick with the Scammy’s. How dare you nominate Lana Del Rey for two awards and send her home with none!
To be completely fair, though, I do not think that “Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” deserved a Grammy. It was good, there were definitely some hits, but Lana’s album that is most deserving of a Grammy is NFR!.
I will never forgive the Scammy’s for snubbing NFR!. It is Lana’s most perfect album and is just the most beautiful collection of music ever created, which is fact.
The Grammy’s, if that’s what you’d like to call them, were a complete mess and many groups and performers left with awards and recognition they certainly did not deserve.
If you have not listened to “Midnights” or “SOS” yet, I suggest you do so and then come back to this article to agree with it.
