Every fall, the SCAD Powers-That-Be do the magnificent, and bring leading industry professionals to our lovely Savannah for the annual Film Festival. This is an amazing opportunity to network at a nationally recognized Film Fest. I mean, seriously? How many universities have their own Film Festival?
Here are a few things we learned last week:
- Instead of demanding and grasping at life, be available to receive life.
- With determination, things that at first seem impossible will become hard, and then easy, and finally, beautiful. Be patient.
- Always go and do something, don’t just wait for someone to come to you.
- Learn everything, it will be useful. Don’t get into the mindset that your profession is the only thing you should know.
- If your job is where you find your identity, you will burn out. Find an array of things that fulfill you.
- Focus on being able to deliver what you are asked to deliver.
- Don’t be afraid to be the first person to say “Hi!”
- Know yourself and where in the world you are going.
- It’s not about you, it just is.
- Â If you have the ability to do it for yourself, do it.
-  It’s not if you can hit the ball, it’s where you hit the ball.
- Â Do the work, and then let it go.
-  Bring yourself to the job, don’t try to make yourself fit the role, make it fit you.
-  Have an enduring attitude; move on to the next thing, it will come back around if it’s meant to be.
