Looks like McCollough and Hernandez have done it once again. For any of you unfamiliar with the designers or their brand, Proenza Schouler (named after their mother’s maiden names) you really must stalk their creations on style.com. In addition to their adventurous designs, and unique prints, the duo has recently teamed up with MAC Cosmetics to develop a makeup line just as cool as them. The collection went live online April 21st and hit counters a few days later on the 24th. It features two ombre blushes, two lip pencils, two eyeliners, various lipsticks, nail polishes, brushes, a limited edition t-shirt and canvas tote. Check out the three products below that I just couldn’t live without.

I’m not usually a fan of lip pencils but I just couldn’t resist this one, seriously, High Energy is where it’s at. This bright brick-red pencil adds the perfect pop of color to almost any outfit. Here, I wore it with my Free People tutu dress over a Victoria’s Secret purple bandeau, and threw my new white Quay sunglasses on with it. Although I decided to turn my already bright outfit into an even brighter one with High Energy, this pencil can also turn an all black outfit into a serious showstopper. In addition to this pencil, the designers created a hot pink one named Dynamo.

Dark lips have been all the craze this past year, maybe its Lorde, or maybe girls are just done playing nice. So if you’re feeling inspired by either, Primrose is the lipstick for you. This shiny deep red-violet lipstick looks great on olive and tan complexions. Lucky for you, since the weather is starting to heat up and your tan is becoming more prominent this lipstick is a necessity for your makeup collection this season. Here I decided to liven my all denim outfit, courtesy of Rachel Comey and American Apparel with my new lipstick. Besides Primrose, the collection features a pink flesh-tone lipstick named Woodrose, a bright pink named Pinkfridge, and a red-orange shade named Mangrove.

I guarantee this will be the only nail polish you need for the rest of the summer. But really- who doesn’t love a good nude? Thimbleweed, is the name of this perfect lil polish. For all my girls that can’t live without gel manicures, aka me, take this polish to the salon and have them put a clear gel coat over it so that your mani can last up to 3 weeks. In addition to this polish, McCollough and Hernandez developed a coral colored polish, Bougainvillea, a berry shade, Dayflower and a black named Nocturnelle.

So there you have it; a review of my favorite products worth breaking the bank for this season from Proenza Schouler. Take comfort in the fact that this collection really is worth every penny.
