5 Netflix Shows to Binge Watch During National Women’s Month

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Scranton chapter.
Unbelievable

This story follows real life events as two female detectives (Toni Collette and Merritt Wever) work together to find a rapist who has left behind a string of crime scenes. This show is perfect for national women’s month because it portrays the strength of women, of all different ages, as they recover from extreme trauma and the power women have to excel in a man driven police force. I highly recommend this show! However, this show contains intense and explicit scenes.

Jane the Virgin

The story follows Jane (Gina Rodriquez) who is accidentally, artificially inseminated. This show is perfect for national women’s month because it portrays women’s strength during difficult, unpredictable times. Also, the story portrays female support systems through Jane, her mother, and her grandmother’s relationship. I recommend this show if you’re looking for a comedy that is very touching. Overall, it is a great show and the acting is amazing!

Grey’s Anatomy

While I am sure that most of you have watched this already, I had to include it. If you haven’t watched it, give it a try! And if you have already watched may consider re-watching some of your favorite episodes. This show is perfect for national women’s month because of the so many talented and strong female surgeons! The women in this show provide inspiration and motivation for us all to push ourselves to do our best!

Cheer

This recent add to Netflix documents the story of the cheer team at Navarro College. This show portrays the physical strength and the determination that women are capable of. The coach of the cheer team is an inspiration to women everywhere because she is extremely motivated, smart, and caring for her team. This show is extremely inspirational! I recommend this show even for people who do not usually watch cheer teams perform! It is amazing to see what they can do!

Dead to Me

This show follows the story of two women (Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini) who meet at a support group for widows. This story is great for national women’s month as it portrays two strong women who support each other and are adjusting to big changes in their lives. This show is perfect if you are looking for a drama. The acting is amazing! I highly recommend it!
