It’s finally spring! You know what that means…new music! Here are some of my favorite music that’s come out so far this spring, and some highly anticipated music coming our way soon:

‘This is Why’ Paramore – February 10

Their first release since 2017, Paramore comes back with a biting and fierce album. I had never been a super big Paramore fan, I used to be afraid of their sound (it was a personal flaw, I know). After listening to this album, I see now what I missed before. There’s a lot of soul behind Paramore and I will definitely be listening some more.

‘Endless Summer Vacation’ Miley Cyrus – March 10

Oh, Miley, you really always know how to do it. For me, I think that this album shows Cyrus’ skill and technique more than anything else she’s done. At her core, Miley works with imagery and vibes in her music. Her iconic raspy voice adds a lot of dimension to some of her otherwise poppy tracks. It took me some time with this album, but it grew on me, I must say.

‘Songs of Surrender’ U2 – March 17

This iconic Irish Rock band has come back, yet again, with 40 songs worth of music. It contains either acoustic or altered versions of some of their best songs from previous albums. I love U2, and I especially love how much my mom loves them. Getting to hear some of the most memorable songs of my childhood produced in a whole new way was incredible.

‘the record’ Boygenius – March 31

Boy, do I love this album. Boygenius’ first album really sets them apart from other artists through their raw lyrics and effortlessly cool image. Most people know Pheobe Bridgers, let me introduce you to Lucy Dacus and Julien Baker, they’re going to be your new dads. With singles like “Not Strong Enough” and “$20,” this album has range. I’ve been obsessed for all of April, now having such a timeless record on my playlist forever. Let’s just say this whole album has a green heart next to it.

‘First Two Pages of Frankenstein’ The National – April 28

This is one of my most highly anticipated albums of the year. I’m a huge fan of The National and their work overall. For those who are new to them, I recommend seeing their work with Taylor Swift. Songs like “Birch” and “Coney Island” are great ways of getting to know their sound while also having that familiar Taylor Swift voice. Overall, I’ve been obsessed with the singles released so far. We have “Tropic Morning Blues” for example, which I think sets a tone for what I hope the album will be. Their new single, “Your Mind Is Not Your Friend,” actually

features the previously mentioned Phoebe Bridgers. And, of course, I can’t get over this album name. As an English major, this is the album name.

‘Subtract’ Ed Sheeran – May 5

I’m a big fan of old Ed Sheeran, so I’m excited to hear what this album is going to sound like. Upon doing some reading, Sheeran talks about how this album talks a lot about fear, anxiety, and depression. I think he’s a pretty talented lyricist and although his most popular songs can become overplayed, they’re popular for a reason. Ed Sheeran is super talented and I cannot wait to see if this album (with the silliest name ever) lives up to the hype.

‘The Show’ Niall Horan – June 9

Another highly anticipated album is Niall Horan’s second record. With his single, “Heaven” taking the world by storm already, I have no doubts that this one will go in the history books. Horan’s sweet and soft voice work really well with the production I’ve seen so far for this record. I love the promo he’s done so far as well—the music video, promo videos, and posts have all given this album a true cohesive vision that I think will do him well.
