It’s hard to believe that our very own Samantha Milazzo has not been a Campus Celebrity yet. This girl is a celeb in every sense of the word. She’s passionate, intelligent and most of all: fabulous. Take a look inside her crazy life and it won’t take long to see why she is valuable to everyone that she meets!
Name: Samantha MilazzoMajor: Strategic CommunicationMinor: Business ManagementYear: 2016Hometown: Moscow, PA
HC: What inspired you to bring a HerCampus chapter here to Scranton?SM: My best friend, Elise and I discovered HerCampus and immediately wanted to start a chapter at Scranton. We began the application process Summer 2014; this process was lengthy and assessed our skills to see if we would be appropriate candidates to run a chapter. The moment we were “accepted” was unexplainable. The amount of time and effort we dedicated from that day on is unreal and I am so thankful for this opportunity. We became a pink level chapter (highest attainable level) this year and our team quickly grew, this is pretty much the inspiration that keeps inspiring.
HC: What are your responsibilities as a Campus Correspondent?SM: More like what aren’t my responsibilities, haha, just kidding. We create an editorial calendar at our bi-weekly meetings, which fulfills each required section for our page. I am constantly creating new ways to hold meetings, team bonding events, and publicity opportunities. This is nothing shy of easy, but hard to put to words, everyday there is a new task.
HC: In addition to keeping HC up and running, you also had the time to create a Love Your Melon Campus Crew. What has that experience been like?SM: AMAZING. I knew that this was going to be another important responsibility and I am always up for an adventure. I have a passion for volunteering and love children so LYM was the perfect match. This is an incredible organization and I learn something new every day.
HC: It’s hard to believe that you still have time to be the Business Club secretary between all of your obligations. How do you balance your academics, clubs and social life?SM: I try to look at all of this as a stepping-stone to the “real world”. It is definitely a balancing act and I truly could not do it without my family, boyfriend and his family and incredible friends; they are the best support system. My days are tight and every week is stressful, but the outcomes outweigh the stress. I balance because I have to, there’s no rhyme or reason to how I do it, though.
HC: What’s one piece of advice you have for someone struggling to get involved on campus?SM: If you don’t do it now then when will you ever? Being involved on campus is a great breakaway from schoolwork and is a chance to meet people!
HC: Lastly, what does the fabulous Samantha Milazzo do in her down time? If you even have any!SM: Down time is slim in my life. This is hilarious, but in my downtime I love going to Target, exploring fine wines, and working out (especially with my mom).
