Someone wise once said to me, “Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise.” Yes, this is true. The literal sun will rise again. But, what happens when the figurative sun fails to rise in the morning? What happens when the figurative sun fails to rise at dusk? What happens if weeks, and months go by and the sun fails to rise? What do you do? Do you go looking for sunshine? Do you create your own sunshine? Or do you simply give up?

You find light in the darkness. You accept that everything in life happens for a reason.

Once upon a time, something bad happened to me. I thought that the world was ending, and I accepted a temporary life of darkness. I accepted a life of rare rays of sunshine. So, in other words, I gave up. I was angry. I was frustrated. And rather than take the initiative to create my own sunshine, I lived in a pitiful palace and wondered “Why me?”

Why did this bad thing have to happen to me? What did I do to deserve this?

I lived like this for months. Until one day, I found peace with my darkest.

So, I take back everything I said. When the figurative sun doesn’t shine, do not look for sunshine, do not create sunshine and do not give up- find peace with your darkness. Make amends and choose to move forward. Everyday inch closer and closer to the sunshine. Inch closer and closer until you find yourself in a field of sunflowers dancing to the soft angelic sound of the wind. Inch closer and closer until the warm rays of sunshine hug you and pull you to the center of the universe.

Touch the intangible beams. Breathe the savory sun. And most importantly, never lose faith. Never stop believing that tomorrow will be a better day. Never stop in the midst of melancholy.

Even the darkest night will end, and the sun will rise.
