He viewed her as no more than self-gain

Pretending it was love

But never experiencing more than lust

Never feeling remorse

For inflicting her with such pain.

All the life in her, he chose to drain

He wore a facade

A vampire in an angels cloth

He sucked away all of her energy

While pretending to give her life

He viewed her as no more than self-gain.

She was as human as they came

With a glowing soul, an intelligent brain

But he chose to see only her appearance

A skinny body with a pretty face

A trophy to gloat about in diners and at bars

Because he saw an object, where a human stood

He never felt remorse

For inflicting her with such pain.

He appeared as selfless, but was an extension of vain

He cared more for himself

And terminated anyone who got in his way

He was a destructive force

But always remained suave in his words

His smile manipulated millions

He fooled her into loving him but

He viewed her as no more than self-gain.

But since she was as human as they came,

Forever kind with an intelligent brain

She grew from his destruction

And left him in the dust

He broke her to shreds

But she refused to quit

She conquered the devil who

Viewed her as no more than self-gain

And never felt remorse

For inflicting her with such pain.
