1. If you can avoid it, don’t take 18 credits second semester senior year. Your mindset will be, “I have to go out tonight. We only have 65 days left.” You won’t have any time to apply for jobs. Then, once you hear your friends getting offers you’ll be extremely depressed.2. Save your money.3. Join as many clubs as your schedule can handle.4. Living off campus is not cheaper. You can tell your parents that excuse, but there will be so many more unnecessary costs. For example, the excessive take out you will order because you do not want to cook.5. Roommates are dirty. Be aware. Be very aware. You may be used to living alone and not sharing a room, but you have to learn something called (drumroll please)… compromise.6. Clean up after yourself.7. If you take an 8:30 class make sure you set AT LEAST 3 alarms.8. Do a lot of your work before dead week when you’re just sitting around waiting to do your work on dead week. It builds up. So STUDY!9. Back up your computer. Computers will crash more often than you think.10. GOOGLE DOCS. If you do not know it, look up how to use it. It saves time and headaches when you have group projects.11. Basilico’s has the best pizza in Scranton, hands down. They deliver before 4 p.m. I recommend the vodka slice.12. Don’t buy all of your books. It costs too much. Share a book with your friend and cut the cost in half. Some classes put required books on the syllabus but don’t use it at all. I suggest wait for Syllabus week.13. This is a bar school… make sure it scans ;).14. Teachers’ office hours are your friend. If you’re behind or do not understand something go during the designated hours or make an appointment.15. Have at least one outfit that can pass as business attire. You never know.16. If you use the Starbucks on campus bring your own cup and get a refill for only 50 cents! (add a flavor for an extra 50 cents)17. Smile at everyone you walk by.18. Make good relationships with all of your professors. You are going to need that recommendation letter some day.19. You should DEFINITLEY study abroad.20. Don’t get in the swing of drinking coffee everyday. Nothing good ever comes from excess.21. Scranton is a small school. You will see your weekend hookups, ex boyfriends, old roommates and the girl you drunkenly exchanged life stories with more than once a day.22. Use a planner to organize yourself.23. Make sure you use your swipes at DeNaples even if you’re not hungry. Keep it in your fridge for later!24. Call your parents! Update them about the good news, not just the bad. They miss you more than you think.25. Have fun with your new friends. You only have 4 years but remember to be responsible!
