Sammi is a fun-loving, free-spirited first-year student affectionately known as the “hippie friend.” Originally from Phoenix, AZ, Sammi now lives on sixth-floor Swig. Even by just glancing at her list of interests and activities, it is easy to tell she’s incredibly involved with campus activities. She is a freshman Senator and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. “I love being a part ASG because I have learned a lot about my leadership skills, working together towards a common goal, and what needs to change on campus,” Sammi said. She is also a talented dancer and was involved in the dance program’s Gallery and Images shows. “I loved being a part of the dance shows because I was able to express myself,” she stated.
Not only does she love studying Environmental Studies and Psychology, Sammi loves dancing, singing, hiking and playing the uke. She said she craves adventure, especially with her closest friends. “My favorite adventure has been backpacking the Grand Canyon last summer,” she said. However, she really wants to visit all of the national parks and Bali.
Fun facts- Sammi has been a vegan for 6 months, and her spirit animal is either Russell from Up or a golden retriever “because they are always happy and so am I!”
With a double major in Environmental Studies and Psychology, Sammi hopes to start a nonprofit organization where she can travel and teach people community values, mindfulness, and to live sustainably. “That would be the dream, incorporating both!” she said.
When asked about her favorite SCU memory, she said it would have to be constantly meeting new people during the first week and exploring on and off campus with different friends. Sammi loves being a Bronco. She added, “I look forward to getting as involved as I can, trying to better the Santa Clara community, and continuing to meet awesome people and make very Go Bronco memories!”
