This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SCU chapter.
I am perfectly aware that I’m writing this article on an electronic medium, on my laptop, while watching TV. And you’re most likely reading this on an electronic device—your phone maybe? While on a website composed of code, software, all the good stuff.
Yet, regardless of my reliance on the stuff, technology sucks. At all times when I need it most, it fails me. Here’s a rundown of the worst times:
- 8 am class starts in 20 and I still haven’t printed my paper. Scratch that, I still can’t print my paper because the printer is having a brain fart. The issue? I have no idea—sometimes its ink, sometimes paper. Regardless, I need it to be over.
- It’s the final lab of the year and lab reports need to be turned in. But, I forgot my laptop in my room. Okay, I hear you, this is more my mistake than the laptop but I think I have right to blame the laptop. I find myself running through campus, donned in my oversized lab coat in the burning heat trying to fetch my laptop as fast as I can.
- I’m hiking with friends and we’ve just reached a vista point. I pull out my phone for a picture just as the clouds shift and the light sparkles in just the right way for my picture. Just as I’m about to hit the shutter button, boom: out pops software update notification. Of all the times…
So there you have it. A lovely assortment of some of the worst crimes our lovely modern amenities have committed against me.
