About a two weeks ago, a FaceBook page called SDSU Memes popped up on our newsfeeds, and within a week, the site had more than 2,000 likes on FaceBook, with over 1500 people sharing it with their friends. Here to give us a little insight to the cleverness and creativity that goes into the page is its creator, Darius Koohmarey.
Where are you from?
I was born here in San Diego, California. But I am half German and half Iranian and a first generation American.
What’s your major?
I am a Computer Science major with a minor in Interdisciplinary Studies.
What year are you?
I am currently a Freshman at State. But credit wise, I’m a Junior.
What do you do in your spare time?
In my spare time I enjoy playing soccer, parkouring, partying, coding, and playing video games.
Three interesting facts about you:
I am an identical twin (my brother goes to UC Berkeley), I speak German and have visited Germany, and I have my own web design company.
How did you come up with the idea for SDSU Memes?
My twin brother made the UC Berkeley Meme page and suggested that I make a meme page for SDSU.
Why did you make it?
I made SDSU Memes because I enjoy the comedy behind internet memes, seeing that college specific meme pages where starting, I wanted to make sure that SDSU rose up prominently alongside the others.
Where do you get new ideas for it?
I take my experiences as an on campus SDSU student and translate them into new, original, SDSU related memes.
What do you plan on doing with the website?
I plan to continue delivering fresh, new, and humorous content on my meme page on a relatively daily basis. I will incorporate current events relating to the daily life of an Aztec into future meme releases.
