This week’s Campus Celebrity is Teagan Sebba, SGA President. Teagan traveled over 1700 miles to Seton Hall to pursue her dream of living on the East Coast. She was initially attracted to the small town community of Seton Hall and has since become very involved on campus. Teagan works as a Leadership Consultant for the Department of Student Life and is also a sister of Alpha Gamma Delta.
(Her Campus): What are your responsibilities as SGA President?
(Teagan Sebba): “As president my main responsibility is to make sure that my Senate has everything they need in order to effectively advocate for the student body. The Senators are the main methods of passing legislation and getting students represented, so I’m there to guide them along the way and keep them motivated. I am also there for the student body as a whole and I am always open to suggestions on what we can work on to make Seton Hall great.”
(Her Campus): What do you hope to accomplish as president?
(Teagan Sebba): “As president I am working on time sensitive issues that I want to accomplish in my one term. I want a 24 hour study lounge on campus and I want the SHUfly and SafeRide to run in a timely manner. On a bigger scale I want to help better our relationship with South Orange, improve off-campus safety and get the student population more engaged with community and registered to vote.”
(Her Campus): What is your favorite part of being president?
(Teagan Sebba): My favorite part of being president is that I’m literally here for you. I have a passion for service and making voices heard, and as president I love getting people interested in the issues and helping them share their voice.”
(Her Campus): How do you balance activities, work and your social life?
(Teagan Sebba): Time management is key for everything I do. I have a lot of things I love to do and I hate letting people down. One of my motivating quotes is ‘If it’s important to you you’ll find time, if not you’ll find an excuse.’ I think that this resonates with my life. I always find the time for SGA, AGD, my personal relationships and a little for myself too. If it’s something I believe in, I’ll make it happen.”
(Her Campus): What has been your favorite memory of college so far?
(Teagan Sebba): “My favorite college memory- hard question because so far I’ve loved all my time at SHU, but it was probably giving the convocation speech to the class of 2019. My freshman convocation is partly what inspired me to get so involved and it was so special to me that I was able to come full circle and give the speech this year.”
