Even though classes are in session, the pumpkin spice latte is back, and Fall fashion is invading the stores, summer isn’t over…yet. Before it officially ends and the warm weather goes into hibernation, here are a few things that you can enjoy in NYC this September:
The 90th Annual Feast of San Gennaro
This festival takes place in Little Italy from September 15th -25th. The historic streets of Little Italy were the first home in America for hundreds of thousands of Italian Immigrants. This feast includes parades, free music entertainment, religious processions, and of course – FOOD! Italian delicacies are a must, and there is even a world-famous cannoli eating competition! So bring your friends, and your appetite!
“College Night” at The Frick Collection
The Frick Collection is located in one NYC’s few remaining Gilded Age mansions. It includes masterpieces by Bellini, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Gainsborough, Goya, and Whistler. On September 23rd, from 6-9 pm, admission is free for undergraduate and graduate students with a valid student ID. Museums can be pricy on a college budget, so take advantage of this free opportunity to see pieces by famous artists!
Museum Day Live!
This annual celebration is hosted by Smithsonian magazine. On September 24th, Museums and cultural institutions that participate across the country provide free entry with a Museum Day Live! ticket. Check out which institutions are participating near you.
Baseball Game
As baseball season comes to an end, you can enjoy the games in milder weather! The New York Mets have affordable tickets, so check out a night game after class or a day game for a weekend getaway!
Central Park
Bring a picnic with your friends, relax on the cushy grass, and bask in the last few weeks of the summer sun. In Central Park, there is so much going on that you don’t even need a specific plan! There are constant performers, countless people, and yummy food carts all around. For those tired of going to the gym to workout, there is a 6.1 mile loop through Central Park, surrounded by the picturesque views of this notorious Manhattan park. Makes for a relaxing run…or walk!
