Greek Unity is one of the most important aspects of Greek Life on any campus, and here’s why.
1. A mature person can see past the invisible boundaries of a different sorority to accept and respect the differences.
No, you are not going to get along with every single girl in every sorority. You might not even get along perfectly with every girl in your own sorority. You’re GIRLS, and occasionally we can be extremely opinionated and catty…but, what it comes down to is respect. As long as you can have mutual respect and join forces against the evil fraternity boys, then you’re overcoming something that a lot of sororities cannot, which is pettiness.
2. You may even find a best friend in a different sorority!
No matter the letters, you can still stick together! You may find that you’ve been blinded by different letters and turned off by the idea of making friends in different sororities. However, you might just find someone you can really relate to that just happens to wear different letters than you. You have your sisters, but also can have friends too!
3. Rivalries are for high school.
Some girls act like it’s their job to be in a rivalry with other sororities. Come on, leave the rivalries to high schoolers. We are all empowered women that found homes in different Greek organizations, so give it a rest.
4. Co-Sponsorships can be fun and beneficial for everyone.
Joining with different sororities for co-sponsorships means double the advertisement and more of a turn out, no matter what kind of an event it may be. Co-sponsorships can also be fun because no one is thinking “We have to raise more money than the other sororities at that event they had.” You’re in it together!
5. Everyone is working towards the same goal.
Whether you’re in this sorority or that sorority, Greek life as a whole has the goal of making the school’s community and the world a better place. Being in a sorority does not make you better than those that did not choose to rush, and being in one sorority does not make you better than those in another sorority. When Greeks unite, the world becomes a happier place.
