6 Signs You’re So Ready for Spring

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sewanee chapter.

The cold may never have bothered Elsa, but it certainly bothers me! I am officially sick and tired of winter, and now that it’s March, I can’t help but look forward to the coming (hopefully warmer) weeks with a kind of giddy, frantic fervor. I’m like those kids in the “The Night Before Christmas” except it’s springtime, and my head is dancing with visions of flowers and sunny beaches and fluffy bunny rabbits—not sugar plums. What about you guys? Have you caught spring fever yet? If you’re anything like me, you just might have started displaying symptoms such as:

  1. The sight of snow literally makes you sick. …And that’s not even me misusing the word “literally” for comedic effect. If you’re as ready for spring as I am, even just the sight of snow at this point in the year might actually cause you to break out in hives.
  2. You keep forgetting to wear a coat.No matter how many times I nearly freeze to death on my way to class, I almost never seem to remember to wear a coat around this time of the year. Why do we do this to ourselves? I think it’s a form of wishful thinking, a reflection of our longing for warmer weather—either that, or our brains are just so fried from midterms that we can’t be bothered to remember anything anymore.
  3. Instead, you dress like it’s already spring.Shut up, Miranda Priestly. No one asked you. I am all about that floral print right now, not to mention sundresses and sandals. Who cares if it’s a little too nippy outside to be wearing them? And don’t act like you don’t do the same thing. I’ve seen you—yes, you—walking around campus, wearing shorts in forty degree weather. As above, I’m pretty sure this is just wishful thinking on our part, but can you blame us?
  4. You always want to study or have class outside.Sure, it seems like a great idea…until you realize that it’s practically impossible to focus and incredibly uncomfortable due to the fact that you’re not wearing a coat (see above). Still, it’s good to spend some time getting back to nature, (at least, that’s what they tell me) and what better time than right now when the weather’s just starting to warm up?
  5. Your attention span has dwindled to almost nothing.Again, I blame midterms and the improving weather. It’s just so hard to focus on a professor’s lecture when you stayed up all night studying and the sun is shining outside, you know? It’s so hard to focus this time of year, but there’s just one thing that keeps you going…
  6. You constantly fantasize about spring break.Ah, spring break. These two little words motivate us to stick with it when we’d rather just curl up into a ball and hibernate. If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably spent an insane amount of time dreaming about all the fun things you’re going to do with your time off, even if it’s just catching up on all the sleep you missed during midterms. You may even have made detailed plans and picked out all of your outfits in advance—or is that just me?

That’s all for this week, folks. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’ve got a midterm paper to write. Keep going, everybody! Spring is almost here!
