Sweater Weather Style

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Sewanee chapter.

Yes, that season is finally upon us… Sweater weather.  Just in case you’re like me and are totally unprepared for this, I’ve compiled a list of trendy sweaters for this fall/winter.

Bright Colors

Winter is no longer season for neutrals and dark colors, now when the weather is gray, you can fight back with a neon sweater.  I really like this fuzzy sweater from Forever21 in hot pink!

Stripes

These sweaters have a cool, laid-back vintage feel that’s very in style right now.  I love them because they’re they focal point of an outfit on their own, so you don’t need to worry too much about accessorizing.  Here’s a good example from Old Navy.

Bulky Cardigans

This is my favorite trend from fall/winter 2017 and I’ve been using it for class a lot now that the weather is cold.  You can throw one of these on over a dress or over a shirt and jeans to add another layer of warmth and style! I like this nice neutral one from Charlotte Russe; it goes with anything!

Fair Isle

These are a staple for me every winter. I love their classic feel and how cozy and comfy they are. If anything screams warmth to me it’s a good Fair Isle sweater.  This one from Abercrombie might become my cyber Monday gift to myself!

Fancy

Sweaters have always been an item of clothing that can be worn lots of different ways, but this season dressy sweaters have been huge! I like this off the shoulder sweater from Chicwish.  Wear it with jeans and nice shoes and you have an instant party outfit!

Tacky!

For some people, it might be a bit early to start on tacky holiday sweaters. I understand that but I’ve started seeing them in stores, so they deserve to be on this list.  Because I’m a fan of equal opportunity holiday sweaters, this one from Charlotte Russe is my favorite.
