The Sewanee Angles have answered our prayers. The rumors are true. Sewanee’s long standing staple Shenanigans is coming back. New owners Bill Elder and Nelson Byrd (C’03) are reviving this tradition from a year and a half hiatus and returning it to its former glory. The menu has been restored. Classics like the Shenaniwich and Italian Sub can be found at the deli while the grill features the all-American cheeseburger and the Spicy Turkey Melt.
Shenanigans will open this weekend on Saturday, February 1 at noon. There will be a limited menu consisting of:
- The Shenaniwich- roast beef, ham, salami, swiss cheese, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, mayo, and mustard (on whole wheat or sour dough)
- Vegewich- swiss, provolone, tomato, cucumber, sprouts, mayo, and mustard (on whole wheat or sour dough)
- Cool Cucumber- cucumber, cream cheese, onion, mayo, and herbs served on a toasted bagel
- Italian Sub- ham, salami, swiss, tomato, banana peppers, onion, lettuce, and Italian dressing served on a sub roll
As usual, all deli items with be served with the legendary carrot. The grill will feature the hamburger, cheeseburger, garden burger (vegetarian option), turkey melt, and spicy turkey melt, along with a bevy of other options. A wide variety of tap beers are available in addition to bottled beer (remember to bring I.D.). A grand re-opening and a full service menu will be available within the weeks to follow.
Take some time this weekend to walk through the crooked door and experience the rebirth of a wonderful Sewanee tradition.
