I’ve known about Danielle Bradbery ever since she was on The Voice- which she won by the way. She’s an effortless singer, and you can tell that she put her all into this record. It’s been four years since the release of her debut album, Danielle Bradbery. All of her fans have been patiently waiting for the release of ‘I Don’t Believe We’ve Met,’ and she did not disappoint. The album has 10 tracks, and I have to say that Danielle is as open and honest as ever with these tracks. It’s a perfect blend of pop and country, and there is sure to be something for everybody on the album.
I’ve had the pleasure of listening to it for a week, as it was released on December 1, 2017. I don’t know how many times I’ve listened to it since then. With every listen it gets better and better. I’ve listened to many albums this year, and this is by far one of my favorites. Below is the track list and a description of each song:
1. “Sway”
“Sway” is such a chill song about having fun with your friends and jamming out to your favorite songs. You’ll definitely want to sway when you’re listening to this one!
2. “Potential”
With lyrics like, “I’m not in love with you, I’m in love with your potential,” it’s not hard to catch the meaning of this one. It’s about being with someone that you know is wrong for you, but you stay because you know they could be so much more than they are.
This song is very reminiscent of how relationships work in today’s society. One minute you’re in love, and the next you’re not sure what’s going on. It’s a battle of mixed signals, and you’re left wondering “what are we doing” here.
4. “Worth It”
I love this one! “Worth It” is for anyone who is in a relationship, and your significant other isn’t appreciating you for who you are. Danielle’s saying, “I know that I’m worth it and if you don’t want to realize it, then I can find someone who knows my worth.”
It’s a love song if I ever heard one. It’s about being in a relationship, and your significant other does something that makes you mad. But before you can leave they do or say something that makes you forget why you were mad in the first place.
6. “Messy”
Have you ever been in a relationship that you know has run its course? This song is about exploring that feeling and knowing that you should end it, but your heart knows that it’s going to be a messy break up because you’ve invested so much.
Basically, this one is about being in love with someone, and they make you extremely nervous. You know that there is a possibility that they could hurt you, so you must be careful- just like if you were drinking red wine on a white couch.
This is about a summer romance. She sees a guy and falls in love with him instantly, and they spend the summer together. Before either of them knows it, he’s packing up and leaving, and she’s heartbroken.
This is a very personal song. This one is about breaking up with someone who knows everything about you. Your secrets, your insecurities, and they move on with someone else. It hurts because they were everything to you, and now they’re nothing.
10. “Laying Low”`
This one is about taking time just for yourself. The world is moving at such a fast pace, and sometimes it’s so easy to get caught up in the superficial things. This song is just about acknowledging yourself and not wanting to wonder if you’ve lost who you are.
Although I am obsessed with this album, the stand out tracks are: “Potential,” “Messy,” “Worth It,” “Human Diary,” “Can’t Stay Mad” and “Red Wine + White Couch.” It’s most of the album, but these are the ones that I find myself wanting to listen to over and over, and these are the ones that I’m usually singing because they are stuck in my head. I want you to be the judge of what you think the best songs are. Give it a listen, and I hope that you love it just as much as I do!
