Dead week and Finals week are slowly creeping upon us, it is understandable that people are dragging themselves desperate to get to the finish line that is winter break. Well, I am here to be your cheerleader and give you some ideas of what you can do to help get you back on your feet sprinting towards winter break with a smile on your face.
Get enough sleep
Most people think that staying up at all hours and cramming for the final will make you remember things more. Â However, sleep deprivation makes you forget more. This can risk your GPA, so disconnect, relax and get the amount of sleep you need. Everyone is different.
It’s okay to cry
Finals week is a stressful time for all of us. The next thing you know, everything feels like it’s falling down a rabbit hole. It is okay to break down every now and then and have a good cry, remember: Â you can always get back up and keep going.
Keep everything clean:
Studying and working in a clean environment reduces anxiety. A clean room can lead to a clean mind. Take 15 minutes and clean your desk, put away the monstrous pile of clothing, take a nice shower and get back to work in your nice, clean environment.
Friends are friends for a reason:
Friends (even furry friends) are known to help you de-stress. Go out one night and get your mind off of your stress or go to the local animal shelter and play with some puppies or kittens to let your mind think of happy things. Just remember to get back to your work. Puppies are great, but they don’t give you your diploma.
Know that this isn’t forever:
When the stress becomes too much, know that the end is near. Think of the happiness you will feel when you get to see your family and pet for Christmas that you’ve missed more than anything.
You’ve got this! Know that there is always someone in your corner waving your personal moral support banner!
