On April 30th, 2004 the American teen comedy Mean Girls, directed by Mark Waters and written by Tina Fey, was released to the public. Since then it has been a 2000s cult classic for all to enjoy, which is why, when the news that the famed lines from the same scene âOn Wednesdays we wear pinkâ and âOn October 3rd, he asked me what day it was. âItâs October 3rdâ.â lined up exactly on October 3 this year, everyone was excited!Â
Here at SFA, it was no different!Â
There were tons of people around campus wearing pink, almost silently celebrating Mean Girls day. Everywhere I went for class, my eyes saw splashes of pink, and that was a cool sight to see. Even a teacher asked why a lot of people were wearing the Plasticâs choice of color, and someone had to explain that it was Mean Girls Day and what that meant. Â
Personally, I watched Mean Girls that day to celebrate with my roommate and had a great time quoting the movie and laughing as the main character Cady Heron struggled with âthe Plasticsâ. On social media, Mean Girls Day was trending, and the internet went wild with memes to celebrate.Â

Means Girls Day this year (2018) is the last year until 2029 that October 3 falls on a Wednesday, and I think thatâs what made this yearâs Mean Girls Day all that more special.Â
