Exam season is upon us, and while we should be spending our time making flashcards, doing practice questions, or catching up on the readings we missed (or didn’t do—I don’t judge), the call of Netflix is stronger than ever. We always tell ourselves that we’ll just watch one episode until three seasons later you realize it’s 4 a.m. and, frankly, too late to get any studying done anyway. But fear not, because here are 7 awesome TV series on Netflix, ranked by how much you want to procrastinate: 7 being not a lot and 1 being you have no intention in passing this class.
Â
7. Master of None (1 season)
Aziz Ansari is hilarious. While being super underated, this show is relatable, funny, and entertaining, and is basically just about Aziz’s fictionalized life. Each episode is only 30 minutes long and the whole season can basically be watched in one night. Not that I did that or anything.
Â
6. Brooklyn Nine-Nine (2 seasons)
If you haven’t already watched this show, do it. Andy Samberg, everyone’s favorite SNL cast member, plays Jake Peralta, a detective for the NYPD. Even though there are two seasons to get through, each episode is only 21 minutes long, so it’s easy to start and stop watching if you need to take breaks to study.
Â
5. Freaks and Geeks (1 season)
I still have no idea why this show got cancelled and I’m actually pretty mad about it. You get to enjoy young James Franco, Jason Segal, and, my personal favorite, Seth Rogen, while still watching a pretty awesome teen angst show. It’s also one of those series where it doesn’t really matter if you watch it in order or not, which is a plus.
Â
4. Making a Murderer (1 season)
If you haven’t heard about Steven Avery, you must be living under a rock. This docu-series follows Steve Avery, a man who wrongfully spent 18 years in jail for a rape he didn’t commit, only to get jailed again for murder. Did he do it? Was he framed by the Manitowoc police? Who knows?
While this show is pretty short, the reason it’s ranked so high is because of the amount of time you’ll spend on the internet looking up conspiracy theories and speculations about who actually murdered Theresa Halbach. This is my favourite theory.

3. Orange is the New Black (3 seasons)
With a fourth season being released on June 17th (after exams), this Netflix original series is becoming more and more popular. Set in a women’s prison, the show that originally began following Piper Shaw, gradually opens up to include the storylines of more and more characters as it goes on. It has developed a pretty big following and I recommend it, if you have self-control and can watch the episodes gradually until the next season comes out.
Â
2. The 100 (4 seasons, with new episodes released weekly)
My personal favorite show, the 100 is a dystopian drama that follows 100 teen delinquents who get sent back to earth from space after a nuclear war to see if it’s habitable. There are quite a few episodes and it is addicting, but, since episodes are released weekly in the new season, once you catch up, it forces you to not binge watch.
Â
1. Grey’s Anatomy (11 seasons)
Ah, Grey’s. They’re basically just like us. So many episodes, so much drama, ripping your heart out over and over. Start this show and you probably won’t pass your exams, but at least you’ll learn some new medical lingo.
