Chill Worthy Netflix Shows

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at SFU chapter.

Netflix has a plethora of beautifully created TV series just waiting to be watched. Here are a few that you need to pay attention to…

WARNING! PARTIAL SPOILERS AHEAD!

The End Of the F***ing World

The End of the F***ing World is a British based dark-comedy that follows the tale of James (a self-proclaimed psychopath) and Alyssa (a rebellious bean) when they decide to run away. They accidentally kill someone and fall in love with each other. I binge watched the whole series in a day, so get some blankets and snacks cause you’re in for a treat!

Descendants of The Sun

I know, kill me. This isn’t a Netflix Original BUT it is on Netflix so… it still counts. If you’re venturing into a new genre like K-dramas, I highly recommend this one. It’s got romance, action, excitement and eye-candy, for all parties. What’s more romantic? The lead actors got married after shooting this series! Romance on and off camera? Sign me up. It’s about a soldier who falls in love with a surgeon, and there are many differences that they share, but their attraction towards each other is impossible to deny. *swoon*

Kim’s Convenience

Based in Toronto, Kim’s Convenience features a Korean family who emigrated to Canada. Mr. Kim’s character takes its roots in a traditional, Korean father who has his own way of doing things. At first, I thought the thick Korean accent was just a way to poke fun at the Korean culture, however I later understood that it was true-to-life, as the parents did spend their whole life in Korea, and the kids grew up in Canada. Each episode is laced with an underlying theme and message that is important in everyday life and showcases a wide variety of cultures, ethnicities and women in leadership roles, which is important in today’s media. It’s light and funny while managing to touch on cultural topics. I breezed through this because it made me happy just watching the life of the characters unfold.

I'm a small girl who likes to try everything once. I love seeking thrills, makeup and Netflix.
