5 Things You’ll Learn by Junior Year
1. Chocolate and Netflix fix almost everything. School stressing you out? Eat some chocolate and curl up binge watching your favorite Netflix show (my personal fave “The Office”). While some may tell you to stay away from the sugars, they are a pure essential for every college student. How else are you supposed to reward yourself for finishing that terribly long chapter? The key is moderation.

2. A relationship is too much work if you aren’t fully committed to it. While you may want a new bae to show off to the family at holidays, a boyfriend isn’t something to pull out when it’s convenient. Like everything else in life, a boyfriend requires a lot of hard work and time. College students don’t have a lot of time, so if you aren’t willing to invest in the dude, maybe it’s best to stick to the single life.

3. Sometimes you can make a friend just by standing there. At least that’s how I met my roommate. So often we get caught up in our hectic lives that we don’t take time to just breathe. Take a break from what you’re doing and observe the world around you. I guarantee you will start to notice things you didn’t before. Who knows – maybe you’ll even make a new friend.
Â
4. Don’t try to force things. Since I’m a stuborn, German girl, I tend to push the “door” when it’s meant to be pulled. Sometimes Plan A and your goals are just not meant to be. I’ve learned recently that God, Buddha or whatever you believe has better plans in store for you anyway.
5. Remember to make time for fun. Years from now you’re going to look back on all the fun adventures you went on with friends, not the endless hours you spent doing homework. Don’t get me wrong, doing homework is crucial, but make sure you maintain a social life as well. The unforbidden triangle is true – you can’t have school, social life and sleep all at once while at college. Stick to the first two and you’re golden. You can sleep when you’re dead anyway.
