Let’s Pretend this Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir)
By: Jenny Lawson, The Bloggress
This is far from highbrow literature, but this memoir is a New York Times Bestseller for a reason; it is flipping hilarious. Never before has the reading public been faced with a memoir, which is mostly true, stringing together life events such as the author growing up with the mentally scarring reality of having her father own a taxidermy business which employs real life pirates, and living with constant vigilance in trying to out strategize the rest of the public when faced with a possible zombie outbreak. This memoir is humorous in a dark, politically incorrect kind of way, which honestly is the best kind of humor among all humors. The outrageous life of Jenny Lawson is accounted as being traumatizing and life rendering for her, but incredibly entertaining for readers. It is comparable to the kind of entertainment if one of your friends gets little hurt doing something stupid, like trying to raise a baby raccoon that mildly attacks the face of your sister. Someone got hurt, but just a little bit so it is funny. That story is from this memoir as well as many other ridiculous tales from The Bloggress. It is so hilarious it will make your cry, but just a little bit. It is funnier that way.
